Reforms in #Greece and in other countries are absolutely necessary, but they must be socially #just and #fair. Die Kurzschlussreaktion des #ALDE Vorsitzenden? Wie gestern bekannt gegeben wurde, tritt MdEP Mag. Angelika #Werthmann #Im Mai 2014 erneut zur EU-Wahl an. Inhaltliche Gemeinsamkeiten sind der Grund, #dass sie als unabhängige Kandidatin für die Liste Bündnis #zukunft Österreich kandidiert. Der Grundtenor ist „proeuropäisch“, jedoch mit einer gesunden Portion #Kritik. Vor allem die #Steuergeld- #und #Ressourcenverschwendung ist sowohl für Angelika Werthmann als #auch für die Partei #nicht #mehr tragbar. Auch die Abwälzung der finanziellen #Verantwortung auf die #Bürger der Europäischen #Union ist ein rotes Tuch. Ein besonderes Anliegen #von Angelika Werthmann ist das europaweite Problem der #Jugendarbeitslosigkeit #und die prekären Verhältnisse der Generation 50+. Werthmann, die die Gelegenheit hatte, gemeinsam mit #DDR. Ich bin zutiefst enttäuscht #von Guy #Verhofstadt, der mich nun seit fünf Jahren kennt, der mich persönlich ‚auf Herz #und Nieren‘ geprüft hat, bevor die Einladung in die ALDE-Fraktion kam. Ich habe mir erwartet, #dass Verhofstadt sich selbst über das Programm #und das #Neue reformierte BZÖ informiert, bevor er sich #zu einer unbegründeten #und überhasteten Entscheidung drängen lässt“, kommentiert MdEP Angelika Werthmann die jüngsten Vorgänge. „Zudem erscheint mir schon nach einem #ersten Blick in die #statuten der ALDE-Fraktion, #dass #Es keine gerechtfertigte argumentative Grundlage für diesen Schritt seitens Guy Verhofstadt gibt.“ --- The kneejerk reaction by the ALDE leader? As #IT was made official on the 27th of March, #mep Angelika Werthmann is going to candidate for the #European elections in #May 2014. Because of similarities regarding their programmes, she decided to independently candidate for the Alliance for the Future of #Austria-list. The keynote is clearly oriented favourably towards the #European #Union, however, a #healthy amount of criticism is also included. Particularly the #waste of tax #Money as well as #European funding are #Not sustainable any longer, neither for #mep Angelika Werthmann, nor for the the Alliance for the Future of #Austria. Also the fact that the #citizens of the #European #Union are continuously made financially responsible is utterly untenable. Further objectives of Angelika Werthmann are #youth #unemployment in the entire #European #Union as well as the precarious situation of the generation 50+. Werthmann, in a #cooperation #with #DDR. Ulrike Haider, had the opportunity to develop and formulate the #European electoral Programme of the Alliance for the Future of #Austria and wishes that the #European #Union to reach ‘the #citizens’ minds and hearts’. Additionally, #citizens should feel #More of the advantages that the EU brings and should be financially unburdened. She underlines that her sole intention is to make #politics #with #facts. All the #More surprising was the short-sighted email by ALDE leader Guy Verhofstadt. “How can we expect from our #citizens to inform themselves about EU electoral programmes to make informed choices, if #Not even members of parliament themselves do #so? I am deeply disappointed by Guy Verhofstadt, #WHO has known me for #FIVE years now, and #WHO thoroughly vetted me before inviting me to join the ALDE group. I expected that Verhofstadt had at least informed himself about the electoral programme before letting himself be urged to a unfunded and hastily decision,” commented Angelika Werthmann on the latest developments. “Further, after a first glance into the statutes of the ALDE group, #IT seems that there is no justifiable or tenable basis for this #Action by Guy Verhofstadt.”

#Umweltverträglichkeitsprüfung vs. #Schiefergas Wie ein "Overkill-Amendment #nr. 132" alles zunichtemachen kann Straßburg (OTS) - Letzten Oktober war #Es ein heiß umstrittenes #Thema, eine breite Öffentlichkeit hat sich an die ParlamentarierInnen gewandt, mit der #bitte, das #Neue #UVP-Verfahren #auch auf den #Schiefergasabbau in jedem Fall verpflichtend auszuweiten. Die entsprechenden Änderungsanträge lagen vor #und #Es gab Grund zur #Hoffnung. Doch die Abstimmung des Berichts wurde am 9. Oktober 2013 vertagt. #Kurz vor der neuen Abstimmung in dieser #Plenarwoche gibt #Es einen neuen Änderungsantrag, der vieles - ändert. Diejenigen Anträge die bei der #ersten Abstimmung maßgeblich für die Aufnahme #von #Schiefergasförderung in die obligatorische UVP-Pflicht waren, fallen unter den Tisch oder #werden abgeändert. "Mit dem #Ende der #Legislaturperiode haben wir sehr viel #Arbeit #und ich empfinde #Es als schlichtweg falsch, diese Belastung der Abgeordneten #und Assistenten offenbar auszunutzen, um Interessen vorbei an denen der BürgerInnen durchzusetzen", zeigt sich MdEP Angelika #Werthmann verärgert. "Wenn wir #ehrlich sind, sind die internen Prozesse des Parlaments für Außenstehende oft schwer nachzuvollziehen. Dieser Änderungsantrag erklärt alle anderen, vorher angenommenen Änderungen für nichtig, wenn er angenommen wird. Mir scheint, das ist bequem für Manche, denn die Änderungsanträge aufgrund derer Schiefergasabbau / #Fracking einer grundsätzlichen UVP-Pflicht unterzogen #werden sollen, fallen somit einfach weg." Besonders die Anträge, die einen Anhang über obligatorische UVPs an heutige Anforderungen #Anpassen sollten, #werden relativiert: Ursprünglich sollten #laut dieser Anträge verschiedene Großprojekte obligatorisch einer UVP unterzogen #werden, z.B. Flughäfen, Hochspannungsleitungen oder eben Schiefergasabbau. Angelika Werthmann bemerkt dazu: "Hier geht viel verloren. Vor allem solche Vorschläge, über die unsere BürgerInnen #Im Zweifelsfall gut Alternativen einfordern oder sich wehren könnten." Aufgrund des Rückverweises an den #Ausschuss sowie die relativ kurzfristige Herausgabe des Änderungsantrags 132 war #Es für #NGOs #und andere aufmerksame BürgerInnen #Im Grunde unmöglich, den Fortgang #von UVP #und Fracking #zu verfolgen. #nr. 132 setzt sich mit der #Frage nach Fracking / Schiefergasabbau gar #nicht erst auseinander. #und da das #Thema #auch #Im Kommissionsvorschlag #nicht vorkommt, ist die Chance, dieses Verfahren wenigstens unter strikte Aufsicht #zu stellen, vertan, wenn der Antrag angenommen wird. "Diese #art #von #politik kann ich #nicht gutheißen. Natürlich werde ich gegen diesen Änderungsantrag stimmen, doch #Es steht #zu befürchten, #dass hier einmal #mehr #nicht der Umweltschutz #und die #Menschen #Im Vordergrund stehen #und der Antrag angenommen #werden wird", meint Angelika Werthmann abschließend. --- #Environmental Impact Assessment vs. Shale #Gas How the „overkill-amendment no. 132“ can ruin everything Strasburg (OTS) – it was a highly debated topic, last October: the public at large addressed the Parliamentarians, pledging for a broadening of the environmental impact assessment in order to include the exploitation of #shale_gas. The appropriate amendments already existed, which gave reason to hope. On 9 October 2013, the #Vote was postponed. Just before the new #Vote this #plenary week, a new amendment has been submitted, which changes – everything. Those first amendments, which were instrumental in adding shale gas #extraction to the environmental impact assessment obligations, go by the board, or are changed. “Due to the end of the legislative period, we have a huge workload, and I consider it #More than #wrong to take advantage of the #MEPs’ and their assistants’ stress, in order to enforce one’s own interests, which are, in addition to that, #Not in the #citizens’ interests”, #mep Angelika Werthmann expresses her concerns and irritation. “Let’s face it: internal processes in parliament are often hard to comprehend for outsiders. This amendment declares all other amendments void – if it is accepted. It seems to me that this is the most comfortable solution for some, since those amendments, according to which the exploitation of shale gas/#fracking must be subjected to a compulsory EIA, are simply cancelled.” Those amendments aimed at adjusting the obligation of an #EIA to the current situation, are being qualified: originally, due to these amendments, several large-scale projects would have been obliged to undergo an EIA, such as, for example, airports, power lines, or the exploitation of shale gas. Angelika Werthmann adds: “A #LOT is lost, here, especially amendments, about which the #citizens could very well demand #Information, or which they could fight.” Due to the #back references to the #committee, as well as the last-minute issuance of the amendment no. 132, it was impossible for NGOs and attentive #citizens to #follow the progress of EIA and Fracking.
